
LORENZO PERRY
OUTSTANDING BUSINESS AWARD
LORENZO PERRY is a certified Youth Fitness Specialist as well as a certified Youth Physical Literacy Specialist. Lorenzo founded GameDay Fitness (GDF) in 2012 with a mission to help young athletes become more active and maximize their athletic potential. Through his work at GDF over the past decade, Lorenzo has helped thousands of kids run faster, jump higher, move better, and ultimately become more confident in their athletic abilities.
Before opening GameDay Fitness Lorenzo served as the Youth Program Director for the Mount Hope Community Center. In this role Lorenzo would use his expertise in youth development to help organize youth community events, teach job readiness courses, and oversee youth athletic and educational programs. It was during this time when he started what is now known as, GameDay Flag Football which, has grown to one of the largest flag football programs in the state, serving close to 400 youth.
Lorenzo attended LaSalle Academy where he graduated as a member of the National Honor Society, and also lettered in three varsity sports. Those sports included Football, Basketball, and Track & Field. However, on the football field is where Lorenzo truly excelled, as he would help lead LaSalle to three consecutive division 1 championships. During his 4-years at LaSalle Lorenzo earned awards such as, LaSalle Academy Male Scholar Athlete of the Year, 3-time Providence Journal 1st Team All-State selection, Super Bowl MVP, Gridiron Running Back of the Year, and RI Gatorade Player of the Year, just to name a few.
After graduating from LaSalle Academy Lorenzo received a division 1 college scholarship to continue his playing career at Umass-Amherst. After playing two seasons with the Minutemen Lorenzo transferred to Bryant University where he would graduate from with a Bachelor’s of Science degree. On the football field Lorenzo would essentially re-write the Bryant Bulldog record books as he would help lead Bryant to their first NCAA playoff appearance. During his two seasons playing for the Bulldogs Lorenzo earned quite a few impressive awards at the school level and also nationally. Lorenzo was named the Bryant University Male Athlete of the Year, Intercultural Center Jim Thorpe Athlete of the Year, North-East 10 Conference player of the Year, East Coast Player of the Year, Associated Press 1st Team All-American, and he was a Harlon Hill National Player of the Year finalist. Lorenzo’s stellar play on the field in conjunction with these prestigious awards made him an easy 1st Ballot selection into the Bryant University Hall of Fame, class of 2013.
When Lorenzo is not at GameDay Fitness you can catch him on the sidelines Coaching his 11-12 year old youth football team. Lorenzo has been the Head Coach for the Mount Hope Cowboys Football & Cheer organization since 2007. During his time as the Head Coach they have won 12 state championships, 6 New-England regional championships, and competed in 6 Pop Warner National Super Bowls. This summer Lorenzo was awarded the ‘Billy Taylor Day’ Neighborhood Hero Award.
