COREY BROWN

COMMUNITY IMPACT AWARD

Corey Brown—father, son, brother, and community leader. A proud Providence native raised in Wiggin Village, Corey is widely recognized for his basketball prowess. During his high school years at Mount Pleasant, he earned multiple awards, solidifying his reputation on the court.

In 2007, Corey founded We Got Next Basketball League to provide inner-city youth with a positive outlet, keeping them off the streets. The league was built on the philosophy that no matter your height, age, or background, if you step on the court, you deserve a chance to play next.

As a beloved community basketball coach, Corey led multiple teams to state championships, with his most memorable achievements being back-to-back titles in Division 2 and Division 1 state titles.

His coaching excellence earned him multiple awards and Coach of the Year honors. Additionally, he played a pivotal role in making history at Juanita Sanchez, coaching Genesis McNeil—the school's first-ever Gatorade Player of the Year.
