DR. ROSE WEAVER

EXCELLENCE IN ARTS AWARD

DOCTOR ROSE WEAVER is a professional actress, singer, writer, producer, and educator with over fifty years of experience in Regional Theatre, Off-Broadway, television, and film. 

 

A former Screen Actors Guild Board member advocating for diversity in the 1970s, she recently played Aunt Esther in August Wilson’s Gem of the Ocean at Trinity Rep. Rose has starred in notable productions such as Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grille, Into the Woods and played roles in various television shows and films, including PBS’s Go Tell It on the Mountain and Poetic Justice. 

 

Awarded the Pell Award for Excellence in the Arts, she holds a Bachelor of Arts from Wheaton College, a Master of Fine Arts from Brown University, and Honorary Doctorate Degrees from Wheaton College, Providence College, and Manhattan Marymount-New York. 

 

Rose has been actively involved in the artistic community in Rhode Island since 1973.
